Best Sports Bras for Larger Busts

People come in all shapes and sizes, and well, ahem, some of us are blessed (or cursed) with a large bust.  Well that’s all fantastic, but it can make things a little difficult when it comes to sports bras that provide real support when we’re hopping and jumping and dancing around!

basic sports braMany women double up, i.e., we put on two of those ordinary non-shape fitting “sports bras” that just compress our girls until they pretty much go numb.  Must have been what Judy Garland felt like on the set of The Wizard of Oz when she had to have her chest strapped down so she could play a younger girl.

Not only is it painful, but it creates such a weird looking “uni-boob” look that we feel completely unattractive before, during and after our workout.  Those “sports bras” work fine for most women, but they just don’t cut it when you need a lot of support.  And I have to admit that for years I did the double bra compressed workout and felt uncomfortable every time.

You might know what I’m talking about.  Pulling those tight bras over your head and strapping them around your chest, not once even, but twice.  And not only that, but then you find yourself squishing out the sides.  Not comfortable.  Not attractive.  Not a good solution.

I’ve tried a whole bunch of random sports bras purchased everywhere from Nordstrom to Marshall’s to Target, and a few from Amazon.com.  I’ve done a lot of reading of comments on sports bras on Amazon, and I’ve tried a few of them.

One of the very highly recommended ones is the Shock Absorber.  I got this, thinking it would work for me, and honestly it did keep me feeling supported.  But this bra has a double connector in the back, making it absolutely impossibly to hook when putting it on the normal way.  So then you have to put it on backward, hook it in front, twist it around, then somehow put your arms through the armholes without ripping the material.  I sort of felt like I did when I was in grade school and got my first training bra, since I had no idea how to work the hooks back then.  I got a workout just putting on this bra, and not a good workout but a frustrating exasperating one!  Needless to say this one got returned.

But then I did find a sports bra I love… the Panache Women’s Underwired Sports Bra.  So easy to put on!  And it has an extra hook that is super easy to connect after you get the main hook done the normal way.  It lifts.  It separates.  It holds.  It is comfortable.  It looks good!  I ordered 4 of them.  It comes in some really cool colors too.  I would definitely recommend this bra!

You can find it here on Amazon.
